Ellen Sammon Carson joined Pion, Nerone, Girman, Winslow & Smith, P.C. in 2011.  Ms. Carson practices family law where she specializes in all aspects of family law, custody and stepparent adoption.  She has experience in mediation and collaborative law.  Her prior legal experience was in civil litigation, medical malpractice defense, insurance defense litigation and asbestos litigation.

Ms. Carson was admitted to the Pennsylvania Bar in 1990 and West Virginia Bar in 1991.  Although she completed her third year of law school at the Duquesne University School of Law, her Juris Doctor was issued in 1990 by the William Mitchell College of Law in Minnesota where she attended the first two years of law school.  At the William Mitchell College of Law she served on the Minnesota Tort Reform Commission, Guardian Ad Litem and the Moot Court Trial Advocacy Group and interned in London, England.  Ms. Carson received her B.A. in political science with a minor in business from Miami University of Ohio in  1986.  She was a member of MUEC and studied abroad in Luxembourg.  She worked for Senator John Glenn for many years.

For years, Ms. Carson was a stay at home mother to her four children and kept active in law by volunteering for various organizations and working part time as a contract attorney for a private practice attorney in the South Hills.  Ms. Carson is currently active in numerous charitable organizations.  She is married, has four children and resides in the South Hills.
